J.A. (Sandy) Thomson – Founding Partner

Sandy is a founding Partner at MTC Law with over 40 years of experience. He is primarily focused on helping clients with Cohabitation, Family, Separation, Divorce issues, Wills and Estate litigation and Insurance Defence. In his 40 years, he has practiced in almost all areas of law including, Personal Injury, General Civil Litigation and Family Law.

Activities

Sandy has been an active member of the British Columbia Bar and has served as the President of the New Westminster Bar Association. He is a guest lecturer for the Law Society’s Professional Legal Training Course for articling law students and has regularly donated his time to the Newton Advocacy Centre giving legal advice in the area of Family Law. He has also contributed to the Continuing Legal Education.

Sandy was a senior subject editor for JP Boyd on Family Law and jointly responsible for the pages on Resolving Family Law Problems out of Court. He is a mentor for other lawyers in his area of practice and in 2016 he received an award of distinction for service to the community from the New Westminster Bar Association.

He enjoys all sports and is an avid curler and golfer. Travel has become a passion.
